Does Your Website Have These 5 Things?

Wedding photographers…we’re almost halfway through 2023 – can you believe it?!

I know a lot of you are starting to book for your 2025 season. As newly engaged couples start their search for the wedding photographer of their dreams – is your website up to par?

Your work is *killer* this year – but are you leaving money on the table when it comes to future bookings?

Here’s 5 things your website should have as you begin booking your 2025 season:

Your website should clearly state who you are, what you do, and where you’re located above the fold (without having to scroll).

There are statistics out there that say users will click off the site if they can’t find what they’re looking for within seconds (some even say within a fraction of a second). If your site is just loading with an image and your logo, but no text, you’re already losing people! Need some help with this? Here’s some tips for how to write a brand bio!

Each page should have a clear call to action at the bottom (and a few others sprinkled throughout) that takes viewers to another page on the site.

This not only helps keep people on your site longer, which is good for your google ranking, but it keeps them invested. It keeps them looking at your work longer. It keeps them wondering what it would be like to work with you longer. It keeps them hangin’ around!

Your gallery/portfolio pages should have both images AND text.

You should have *at least* a short paragraph that talks about your favorite places to shoot (think venues, parks), your favorite times of day to shoot (sunset, golden hour, sunrise), and maybe a little bit about your style and approach (documentary style, candid, high end). This is not only GREAT for SEO but it helps set client expectations before you even meet with them. Here’s a helpful blog post that explains more about this!

Your website should have testimonials that actually explain what it’s like to work with you.

Use reviews with substance. You want to give specifics! Your clients want to know more than just how “good” you are, they want to hear what it’s like to work with you, and what they’ll take away from the experience. Here’s a great example of a client review that tells a story, it gives specific information about what the experience was like – “My husband and I will never forget the magical sunrise experience with Katya. Her excitement and positive vibes (at 6:00 am!) were so contagious. It was one of the most beautiful settings I’ve ever experienced, being surrounded by ocean, sand, an incredible sky, love, cool romantic music (Rob was the DJ!) and these two made this moment totally worth it. We will never forget it.

You should stop using Linktree for your “link in bio.”

Yes, it’s free, which is super cool! But it’s also taking people off of your website and onto a third party site…which is bad for your SEO! Regardless of what website platform you’re using, you can just create your own page to use for your link in bio and use a direct link to that on Instagram! Super quick and easy, also free, and can give you a nice SEO boost!

The good news? We offer a collection of 10 custom designed Showit templates custom tailored for the wedding photography industry. They include all of the things listed above and plenty of additional features (even a FREE “link in bio” page!)
