The Printographer’s Society, founded by Makayla and Dave Harris, represents a unique fusion of creativity, community, and a passion for print photography. When they approached me to design the branding and website for their new venture, we aimed to create a visual identity that honored the rich history of photography while feeling fresh and engaging for today’s audience.
Aesthetic Direction: Retro 60s/70s Vibe
For the Printographer’s Society branding, we drew inspiration from the iconic design language of the 60s and 70s, with a subtle nod to Kodak’s classic branding. The result is a vibrant, nostalgic look that evokes the golden age of photography. The color palette, typography, and graphic elements are all carefully chosen to reflect this retro influence while ensuring the brand feels modern and relevant.

Website Design: A Customized Experience
The website, built on Showit and customized from an earlier version by Davey and Krista, extends this retro vibe into a digital space that is both functional and visually appealing. We focused on creating a user-friendly experience that showcases the society’s offerings while celebrating the artistry of print photography. The layout is clean and intuitive, guiding visitors through the site with ease and encouraging them to engage with the community.
Building on a Legacy: Continuing a Creative Partnership
Working with Makayla and Dave Harris on the Printographer’s Society was particularly meaningful, as they were among my first clients back in 2017 when I designed the branding and website for their photography business, The Harris Co. This project allowed us to build on our past collaboration, bringing a new creative vision to life while maintaining the high standards of design and functionality that have always defined our work together.

A Community for Print Photographers
The Printographer’s Society website and branding are designed to foster a sense of community among print photographers, offering them a space to connect, learn, and share their work. The retro design not only pays homage to the heritage of photography but also creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that resonates with the society’s mission. This project represents a fusion of nostalgia and modernity, providing a platform that both honors the past and inspires the future of print photography.
The result is a brand and website that capture the essence of the Printographer’s Society—where the timeless art of print photography is celebrated in a vibrant, modern context.
